Welcome to the Community Hall of Yarmouth and District (CHOYD). WE ARE DELIGHTED THAT SEVERAL REGULAR ACTIVITIES HAVE RESUMED AND HOPE MORE WILL FOLLOW SHORTLY, see the diary on our Hall Calendar page. As well as being used for many public activities and gatherings, the Hall is also available for hire. With a convenient location and range of facilities, the Hall is an ideal venue for many types of celebration and events.
We host many great parties, performances, wedding receptions, corporate and charity events, meetings, sales, training classes, social evenings, games, exercise lessons, exhibitions and all kinds of music. See
Hiring the Hall.
Our traditional Hall has an interesting history having been built in the 1910's originally as a Liberal Club; later becoming the Yarmouth Institute (a private members club); and in 2015 it was acquired for the whole community.
Since 2018 it has also provided an office for the
Town Clerk (see the
What’s On page for contact details and times).
CHOYD is a registered charity run by trustees and supported by other volunteers. The object of the charity is "the provision and maintenance of a community hall for the use of the inhabitants of Yarmouth and district, without distinction of political, religious or other opinions, including use for: meetings, lectures and classes, and other forms of recreation and leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants."
As funds become available
* we continuously improve and update the facilities. This includes: new heating, wiring, windows and lighting. We now have a
smart kitchen;
new toilets, including an accessible disabled loo;
improved lighting and a new partition with
sound proofing. We welcome
your suggestions for other improvements.
There are many
regular activities (see the
What’s On page) that everyone is welcome to attend. See
Joining In to find out how you can get involved and see more about the current volunteers.
