The Community Hall of Yarmouth and District (CHOYD) is available for hire; with a convenient location and range of facilities and equipment, the Hall is ideal for many activities, celebrations and events including: private parties, performances, wedding receptions, corporate and charity events, meetings, sales, training classes, social evenings, games, exercise lessons, exhibitions and music of all kinds.

REFURBISHMENT NEWS: Our New Loos and Office are coming! The Hall will be closed from Monday 24th July to Sunday 3rd September during building work.

The Hall was acquired for the community in 2015. CHOYD is a registered charity run by trustees and supported by other volunteers. We have been upgrading the facilities as funds become available *.

We have already installed new central heating, wiring, windows and painted much of the interior. In 2016 we installed a brand new kitchen so, more events and activities with food and catering now take place. We have raised enough funds for improved toilet facilities, storage and office space building work will start on 24th July 2017. Our next target is the roof & ceiling repairs in the oldest part of the Hall, which will open up even more space for events and activities.

Several groups hire the Hall for regular activities (see the What’s On page) and we aim to encourage greater use of the Hall by the whole community. All requests and suggestions are most welcome!

Our bar is run by the volunteers at Eremue Trading Ltd. This company was set up by CHOYD and its surplus profits are donated to the charity.

Our traditional Hall has an interesting history having been built in the 1910's originally as a Liberal Club; later becoming the Yarmouth Institute (a private members club); and now it belongs to the town and is open to everybody.

Booking the Hall: For more information about what the Hall has to offer as a venue, see Hiring the Hall.

Becoming a member: Although most of the events and activities are open to everybody, becoming a member is a way of showing your support, see Joining In to read about the benefits of membership.

* We are grateful for the support we have already received from: Yarmouth Town Council; Delphi Lakeman Memorial Trust; Herapath Shenton Trust, The Daisie Rich Trust and The Harbour Commissioners; as well as many other generous donations. Thank You!
